Tom Larsen is the Assistant Vice President, Hazard and Risk Management for CoreLogic, responsible for thought leadership on managing the consequences of natural catastrophe risk. Tom’s role within CoreLogic Protect is to support insurers, governments and real-estate owners in their goals towards confident risk assessment and post-event response to catastrophes – key elements towards resilience and recovery for communities.
Tom joined CoreLogic in 2013 with the acquisition of EQECAT, Inc., a catastrophe risk management firm, where he last held the title of Senior Vice President and Chief Product Architect. Tom’s career has spanned performance evaluations of individual buildings for earthquakes and developing financial risk models for insurers with solvency and liquidity risk from hurricanes and earthquakes to supporting a complex financial risk-transfer market where catastrophe insurance risk is transformed into fixed-income securities. He has written numerous research papers and articles, participated on various industry panels, and is a frequent speaker and subject matter expert on the financial and societal impact of natural catastrophes upon homes and communities.
Tom earned a M. Eng. in Structural Mechanics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. He is based in Oakland, CA.
